Your best directions are based on your Kua number
which is determined by your year of birth
and your gender. Some feng shui masters use the Chinese Lunar Calendar and
some use the Chinese Solar Calendar to determine Kua numbers.
The Lunar Calendar follows the cycles of the moon and the Solar Calendar
follows the cycles of the sun.
The difference
between the two calendars leaves a “cusp” area for a small percentage
of the population born from mid January to mid February. If you were
born in January or February, compare the two calendars to see
if they give you different Kua numbers. If they do give you different
Kua numbers and you are in the “cusp” area, you can try to determine
your best directions by checking the directions in which you have
been sleeping over the years and comparing them to the positive and negative
things that have happened in your life. If you slept one way and things
went well and slept another way and things were not so good, you can use
this information to determine what is best for you. The Chinese solar year begins on February
4th or 5th each year at the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the
Spring Equinox. A lunar month lasts 29.5 days and this only
adds up to 354 days a year so an extra month is added every 3 solar years
to make up the 11 days missing each year of the Lunar Calendar. Look
up your year of birth in the calendar dates below to find your Kua number.
Then check your Kua number in the Four Best Directions Chart at the bottom
of these calendar dates for your best directions.
